Show Review

Autosport 2016

The Autosport International show was a great success this year, with our staff on the stand being kept busy with enquiries from both trade and public sectors.

There was great interest in both of the 2 new gearboxes on display; the QBE9J for the Honda B16, and the QBM5M 5/6-speed gearbox with drop gears, as well as increased interest for our existing 4-speed sequential gearbox with drop gears; the QBM1M as used in the National Hot Rod championship.

During the four days of the show we ran a competition, to win a free ATB differential, which was entered by many of our visitors. Details of this competition can be found at the end of this newsletter.

The focal point of our display cabinet this year was our huge range of QBE69G options. This included over 40 different input shafts, various input retainers, adapter plates and a bellhousing, to show the vast range of vehicle fitments that the QBE69G can be specified for.
Rated to 750bhp, available in a range of different ratio options, and with 16 current complete engine/vehicle fitting packages, this really is one of the most versatile gearboxes that we manufacture.

We are always looking to expand the range of fitments we can offer, so if your fitment is not listed, give us a call or send us an email to discuss your requirements.

If you didn’t get a chance to come and see us at the NEC last month dont worry; we’ll be exhibiting at various shows and events throughout the year and will be advertising these closer to the occassion.

Our next full show will be the London Classic Car Show at the Excel 18th-21st February, details following soon.

Offer of the week

For this week only we are able to offer our Vauxhall/Opel synchromesh & dog engagement gearkits at an additional 10% discount off our standard pricing.

These kits are available for the F13/F15 & F16/F18/F20 gearboxes in both 5 or 6 speed options.

Synchromesh Kits

Synchromesh kits are designed primarily for fast road use, where the standard gearchange is to be retained, allowing for the smooth gear changes that the standard box offered.

This will still require the use of the clutch to shift, and rewards slower, smoother movements of the lever.

Synchromesh kits are available in the 5-speed variants only, for F13/F15 gearboxes, (using F13 synchro assemblies), and F18/F20 gearboxes.
These are all straight cut gearkits.

The QKE15C for F13/F15 includes a final drive ratio, of which there is a choice of 3 different options.

The QKE13C for F18/F20 also includes a choice of 3 final drive ratios, as well as a choice of 3 different 5th gear ratios as well.
The final drive ratio can also be used on its own with the standard Vauxhall/Opel gearbox.

To make the most of your gearkit, why not fit a Quaife ATB differential or Tran-X LSD at the same time. Both are available with these gearkits.

Dog Engagement Kits

Dog engagement kits are designed to replace the standard synchro parts from the stock gearbox, to allow the driver to change gear as fast as they can physically move the gear lever.

This eliminates the need to use the clutch on up-shifts, and rewards fast, positive movements of the lever.

Dog engagment kits are available in the 5-speed and 6-speed variants, for F13/F15 and F16/F18/F20 gearboxes.
These are all straight cut gearkits as well.
All of our dog engagement gearkits include heavy duty strengthened selector rods and forks.

The QKE8C 5-speed kit for F13/F15 includes a heavy duty end cover and final drive ratio, of which there is a choice of 5 different ratios.
The QKE10C is the 6-speed variant, which includes the heavy duty end cover, and a choice of 3 final drive ratios. This converts the standard box to a 6-speed.

The QKE6C 5-speed kit for F16/F18/F20 also includes a heavy duty end cover, as well as a choice of 8 different final drive ratios, as well as a choice of 2 different 1st, 2nd & 5th gear ratios.
There is also a specific 2-speed Autograss kit available.
The QKE11C is the 6-speed variant, which offers 4 different final drive options and a choice of 2 different 4th gear ratios and 3 different 5th gear ratios.

Quaife recommends the use of a heavy duty gear lever and operating turret for all dog engagement gearkits to provide strong, positive gear shifts where the stock lever parts may bend and break.

To make the most of your gearkit, why not fit a Quaife ATB differential or Tran-X LSD at the same time. Both are available with these gearkits.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came and chatted to the team on our stand and to all those that entered our Win an ATB differential competition. The lucky winner drawn at random after the close of the show was Nick Ashman who will soon be taking delivery of a QDF15K differential to be fitted to his stunning 1946 MG TC race car pictured above. This is perfect timing for Nick as the car is currently undergoing axle and engine upgrades ready for the new season. We’re sure he’ll notice the superb handling upgrades offered by this Quaife ATB differential.
