About Swiftune
Swiftune celebrates its 50th year at the top of Mini motorsport in 2015.
Over its long history Swiftune has firmly established itself as the leading Mini race engine builder.
Since Glyn Swift started Swiftune in 1965 their engines have been powering Minis to championship and race wins on the national and international stage.
Swiftune is now run by Glyn’s son Nick, and Swiftune engines are still out in front today with many wins in historic championships all over the world, including numerous achievements at the iconic Goodwood Revival and Goodwood Members Meetings.
Whether it is in Mini Miglias, historic racing, rallying, or countless national and regional championships around the world, lift the bonnet of a race winning Mini and you will probably see a Swiftune engine.
But it’s more than just engines that Swiftune can offer. Swiftune have worked in partnership with Quaife Engineering to develop a range of high quality performance transmission and drive train components for both road and race applications.
This includes, amongst other products, the world renowned Quaife ATB differential, which is a direct replacement for the standard Mini differential, fitting into the standard transmission without the need for a new crown wheel and pinion or matching drive shafts.
Their research and development programme, on the track and dyno, plus extensive feedback from their own racing programme means their experience is unrivalled and always up-to-the minute with the latest technology and developments.

ATB Differential
The ATB diff delivers a cost saving of almost £500.00 because it fits directly into the standard transmission without the need for a new crown wheel and pinion or matching output shafts…just push in the standard pot joints!
The Automatic Torque Biasing LSD Differential enables your Mini to accelerate quicker and corner faster. How? Simply by getting the power to the ground!
The Swiftune differential, manufactured by Quaife, powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions. It senses which wheel has the better grip, and automatically biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel. Power is transferred automatically without the use of normal friction pads or plates seen in other limited-slip designs.
In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the ATB diff biases greater power to the outside wheel, reducing inside-wheel spin. This allows the driver to begin accelerating earlier, exiting the corner at a higher speed.
The ATB Helical LSD differential’s unique design offers maximum traction, improves handling by reducing understeer, curbing steering ‘fight’ and puts the power where it is needed most. A definite advantage, whether you are on a Track Day, racing or driving a performance Mini on the road.
Swiftune has exclusive rights to the Quaife patented ATB diff for Minis. Quaife is so confident about the quality of its ATB the unit comes with a lifetime guarantee.
Roller Bearing Drop Gear Sets
Swiftune’s latest design of Roller Bearing Drop Gear Set is available now for all Mini applications.
The tooth form has been designed to greatly reduce friction. All previous gears have used the original Special Tuning design which had a stubby tooth. This caused a high single point of pressure as the gears meshed which increased friction. The latest design allows the teeth to mesh on a smooth ramp; the benefits are reduced friction and increased life.
Aerospace specification materials increase reliability and service life.
The latest unique design bearing gives 100% greater side support to reduce loading. The new design firmly holds the idler bearing with a two part pinion that is bolted together. This system replaced the two existing idler bearings that are fitted to standard gear casings.
These gear sets feature straight cut teeth, and the new roller bearing idler, which removes the need for the gear case and clutch cover bearings. The primary gear features a bronze top hat bush and unique floating inner bush with a retaining clip, thus eliminating standard bush failure. As with all of Swiftune’s products, they have proven motorsport reliability.
Designed with the best possible gear correction and least rolling resistance, these kits are available for all Mini applications whether 1275, 998, A series or A plus.
Hardy Spicer Drive Shafts
We have used these drive shafts for over 6 seasons, and they have brought us 100% reliability in all our Swiftune works cars and historic racers.
Manufactured with Quaife’s extensive knowledge in drive train components, the design incorporates the steel collar system to maximise the strength at the fine spline end of the shaft.
Only use for hardy spicer in-board couplings as per the original Cooper S.
