Due to expansion we have a number of vacancies open for fitters, maintenance Engineers, Gear cutters and CNC operators, please see below for further details.

Fitter

Due to our excellent Order Book, we are expanding our factory and fitting sections and require an experienced fitter to join our highly skilled team who demonstrate on a daily basis the quality of service we strive to offer.  Applicants will be primarily responsible for assembling new products (both in batches and individually) and servicing existing customers’ products.

All applicants must:

  • Have current experience in a mechanical product assembly type role and preferably (although not essential) within the motorsport or transmission industry.
  • Be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail without constant supervision and demonstrate excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Have a strong level of mechanical sympathy with a logical approach to problem solving, basic turning and surface grinding experience would also be an advantage.
  • Have good communication skills, relaying concise and correct information regarding servicing to the stores and customer service teams.
  • Take ownership of any job or process assigned to them and work safely and with efficiency to ensure the best use of their time and efforts.
  • Be able to use the company computers with ease and have a general understanding of using basic Microsoft products.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional way at all times, maintaining a presentable appearance and taking good care of personal and company property.

The position is located at Quaife’s Head Office in Sevenoaks, Kent although candidates must be willing and able to work at our Gillingham, Kent factory when required by the needs of the business. A high standard of quality is expected from all of our staff, as is the ability to work in a dynamic environment.

CNC Operators

Due to our excellent Order Book, we are expanding our factory and fitting sections and require experienced CNC operators to assist in the running of a variety of CNC machines, including lathes and mills, with positions available at both our Sevenoaks and Gillingham sites.

Applicant’s should have previous experience of working in a modern machine shop and have an understanding of the relevant processes. They will need to be able to read and understand machining drawings and be confident in the use of measuring equipment such as micrometres and callipers.

All applicants must:

  • Ensure all machines in the cell are kept running as efficiently as possible.
  • Make offset alterations to running parts if required.
  • Check part as required as per the check sheet and notify the setter if needed.
  • Ensure that their working area is clean and tidy at all times.
  • Assist the setter in re setting the machine for the next job e.g. change jaws, load tooling and programs in to machine, re-set work shift etc.
  • Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the management team where the needs of the business require it.

There are vacancies located at Quaife’s Head Office in Sevenoaks and at our Gillingham Factory, although candidates must be willing and able to work between sites when required by the needs of the business. Maintenance Engineer

Due to our excellent Order Book, we are expanding our factory and fitting sections and require an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our existing team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a good all round knowledge of machine tools and site equipment, including CNC mills, lathes grinders, & gear cutting machines and all general site maintenance.
  • Demonstrate mechanical awareness and an ability to make decisions regarding when to repair and when to replace by analysing the cost against efficiency both immediately and for the future.
  • Be certified to 17th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations
  • Be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail without supervision and demonstrate excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Follow existing Planned & Preventative Maintenance schedules and develop new schedules where necessary to promote the safe and efficient operation of our machinery.
  • React to ad hoc failures of equipment in a timely manner and have the ability to think “outside the box” and suggest innovative ways to improve performance of machinery and facilities.
  • Demonstrate a flair for problem solving.
  • Have good communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be expected to work with heads of all departments in this role.
  • Take ownership of a job or process as well as using their extensive mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering knowledge to solve any problems they face.
  • Be able to use the company computers with ease and have a general understanding of using basic Microsoft products.

Gear Cutter

Due to our busy order book, we are currently expanding our manufacturing plant and now require an experienced gear cutter to join our highly skilled team, who demonstrate on a daily basis, the quality of service we constantly achieve.  Applicants will be primarily responsible for the setting of the company’s many CNC and manual gear cutting machines.

All applicants must:

  • Have current experience in CNC and manual gear cutting. This ranges from manual gear cutting and shaping machines to Siemens controlled Gleason and Liebherr CNC gear cutting machines. We have also recently purchased a Siemens controlled Liebherr CNC helical shaper, capable of shaping multiple gears with a blank diameter of up to 380mm.
  • Have current knowledge of gear checking techniques using manual equipment as well as our Gleason GMM. In house training on the GMM will be offered to the successful candidate.
  • Be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail without constant supervision, and demonstrate excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Have good communication skills, relaying concise and correct information to the production manager.
  • Take ownership of any job or process assigned to them and work safely and with efficiency to ensure the best use of their time and efforts.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional way at all times, maintaining a presentable appearance and taking good care of personal and company property.
